The Healing Touch Spiritual Ministry program (HTSM) has provided Christian educational programming since 1997. The work has spread throughout the United States, Europe, South Africa and the Caribbean for students who want to learn hands-on healing from a Judeo-Christian perspective. Its beginning roots are in the Healing Touch program begun by Janet Mentgen in the 1980s. But its deeper roots go back to the prayer, the laying-on of hands and anointing with oil modeled by Jesus as a major part of his ministry. Healing actually fell out of Christianity over 500 years ago but is beginning to be looked at anew as many people turn to complementary forms of healthcare.
Like the work of the early apostles and disciples, Healing Touch Spiritual Ministry is spreading to churches, hospitals, hospices, massage schools, and retreat centers throughout the U.S. The program’s unique contribution is to frame prayer, energetic healing and anointing with essential oils within a Christian tradition and to teach it in churches and spiritual settings of all denominations.
